for a good cause.

it's almost time! our time theatre's spring gala is right around the corner.

i am tempted to splurge on this. just mention anything that helps out the youth and involves theatre and the arts and naturally i will be there. with checkbook in hand. and spending an entire paycheck on a silent auction. with no regrets. and of course, let me be catty, the line up (yes, i did just say 'line up') looks stellar. the company itself is amazing, so i am excited for their spring gala.

pride. power. pinstripes.

the yanks home-opener game was rained out today.

*que: 'lers making some smart ass remark right now*

cant lie, i am obviously disappointed... as a bulk of new york'ers are right now. the yanks are my obsession, and i was overly excited to see i had the day off to watch the game with my pops. we had the whole entertainment room in the basement set up. snacks. volume. beverages. and our yankees gear. yes, we are still decked out, head to toe, in yankees wear. i even got a brand new nyy hat to wear for this event! jasmine was also set, sitting on the couch with us, waiting patiently to see her future step-dad, derek jeter, work his magic on the field. but mother nature is not letting this happen. bummer.

and the biggest upset? it's not even raining anymore! this better be a sign that good things are to come to my boys this season. i will not take this as a bad omen as the crazy fans are, rather that this a positive and refreshing sign for an amazing and fun-filled season. hopefully filled with many night games spent as bleacher creatures with the friends.

stay golden!

sadly this sold out on trashy clothing @ etsy. it was only $20! but hilarious none the less! the sad truth is, i am still in love with the golden girls!
even when i was in the bahamas earlier this year, we found ourselves spending our mornings not getting the best possible lounge chair to sun ourselves in, but by watching the tales of dorothy, blance, sophia and rose. and laughing our faces off and being perfectly okay with it! and i would be lying if i said i didnt have the golden girls theme song as my cell phone ring.... i only hope that when i am golden, i can be as sassy as those fine ladies.

back in ny.

(cody, matt myself & george at the kimmel ctr in philly, pa.)

a good time was had this weekend. more fun then words can express. i truly am so lucky to have such a close-knit group of guy friends that i know i can go to at anytime in need. and i needed some of that time this weekend. philadelphia was perfect. i needed a weekend away from nyc, so the location and the company were perfect.

as always, the drinks were strong, the laughter was unstopable, the dancing was dirty and the memories were everlasting. OH! i also learned a few things whilst away. let me share:

1. red suede high heels are NOT the way to go when going out.
it should be noted, that i was spending the weekend with some of the most attractive gay males nyc and philly have to offer. this of course means, i have to be on my best behavior and be dressed to the nine. hence: red suede pumps need to be bought out. normally, i am a very "skinny jeans and flats / converse" type of girl. but i have an extensive, and i mean, EXTENSIVE collection of high heels... back from the corporate and sorority days. it is disgusting how many pairs of heels i have that i have only worn once and they just sit in my closet. so for a night out with the gays, i like to bring out one of the expensive, one of a kind, barely worn heels for a whirl on the town. my collection isnt just black, brown and gray. i have prints. fuschia. neon blue. crazy crazy crazy colors and styles. as per this weekend, i thought my little white peasant top with black trim and dark skinny jeans would be PERFECT with my red suede heels. not everyone can pull off this look. luckily, i was told by both straight and gay men, i can pull it off. so off i go... hitting up the town. before we even got to dinner, the feet were killing me. suck it up. "fashion over function!" as the jo(h)n's say! i thought maybe after a few beverages, i would feel no pain. not so. dancing was torture. i am sure i must have looked like a cat that got electrocuted because i was in so much agony. when we finally left, i had to take shoes off in the middle of the road just to walk. gross. bigger question to this though: the gays always want you to look good, but what happens when you look good but cant dance because the "look good" look, hurts too much? what do they expect then?!

2. it is okay to eat.
we all feasted SO much this weekend. between cody's birthday dinner at bump, brunch at marathon (high recommend! be prepared to wait on a saturday/sunday morning!) dinner at an irish pub (with the best wings ever), brunch at another irish pub, our bodies were loaded with food and we were okay with it! not to mention a red velvet birthday cake, jp's hummus and some late night pizza. i am surprised i fit into my jeans today. youre on vacation though! plus a birthday is always reason to celebrate.

3. redbull shouldnt be mixed with champagne.
the fashionista martini at bump... sounds good, right? champagne... red bull... some other form of liqour. no. no. no. bad experience. only limit yourself to two. please.

4. on the alcohol note: rasberry lemonade from the tavern: so worth it. drink it up!

5. shopping is necessary.
the urban outfitters in center city! gorgeous! four floors of fashion and trends. the jcrew in libery place! beautiful visuals! left me breathless. the gap on the other hand!!! AWFUL! worst gap i have ever seen. disgusting! disgraceful! ugh. i picked up some new high heels (two pairs to be exact), some flip flops from jcrew (they have way cute bulldog ones for you animal lovers out there!) and a new scarf from urban. did just the right amount of damage.

6. orange ginger tea.
ginger tea has been a late night, going to sleep, beverage of choice this weekend. very good with no milk and sugar. do not keep your teabag in for too long, as it gets way too citrus-y.

and lastly.

7. it should be cody's birthday every weekend, so these moments can happen more so in my life!

city of brotherly love.

jasmine always becomes sappy, needy, emo and oddly enough - very affectionate when she gets the jist that i am leaving the house for a period of time. which in this case, is true. philadelphia awaits my soul. the other half of my heart resides in a mix of philadelphia and delaware. and tomorrow, my heart will be complete as we all are reunited for cody's birthday.
so many favorite people squeezed into a weekend in a new city that we have all become familar and in love with, i am set.

& so it seems, i am gone until sunday evening. be well, kids. until then... xo's.

relief

todays listen of choice:

chris garneau: music for tourists.

for you nyc locals, his music seems very fitting to this dreary weather we have on this early afternoon. adding to the fact that he is from brooklyn, i feel like every song was written about me and my life. with chances of snow today (what! really!) and ugly gray clouds above us, this album is the perfect soundtrack to listen to with a cup of tea and a good book snuggled on your comfy chair.

between his soothing voice, his endearing lyrics, the hum of the piano and the violins throughout each song, chris garneau has won my heart, fair and square. he is beautiful. he is moving. his music - epitome of beauty. words dont do this young lad justice.

check him out: http://www.myspace.com/chrisgarneau

$$deal of the day!

gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous tunic top from forever 21. $25. perfect with either skinny jeans and a heel or leggings with a flat. cant go wrong!

the detailing of the top portion of the dress is what makes it. they are polyester-ish roses throughout the bust and straps. love. they also feature this dress in all white. (in stores & online!).

i was disappointed because i thought it would be a fun summer dress, but it is way too short on my 5'7" torso. for you shorter ones, you can definately pull it off with nothing under it! if i really wanted to, i could wear it as a dress, but i just would have to keep my hands at my side at all times and hope a gust of wind does not swoop on by.

lola devine

i have often been very partial to urban decay cosmetics, since i was just a wee little one in high school. it was all i would wear. their eyeshadows, glitters, lip glosses, eye liners, etc... it was (and still is) a big part of my style and everyday wear. a part of me thought i would never (ever) leave urban decays side.

then the unexpected happened.

heatherette announced they were going to start a line with MAC cosmetics. my heart never felt so happy. first off, LOVE heathertte, second off, one of my beautiful and wonderful friends, kate, is a make up artist for MAC, so i knew i would eventually join the MAC craze.

the day of their launch i ran (literally, ran) to the nearest MAC counter and dropped well over $100 in their new line. in love. today was the first day i wore their entire line (eyeliner, shadow, lipgloss) on my face and never had so many compliments on my makeup. i dont even wear a lot of makeup to begin with, so for people to compliment me on my makeup, huge thumbs up.

thank you, MAC & heatherette for making a line so beautiful, funky and fresh. i pesonally support the 'nighthawk' eyeliner, 'sock hop' lip gloss and 'heatherette trio 1' eyeshadow. you wont go wrong if you go heatherette. that is a promise.

famous flower of manhattan

that is me. your new friend who apparently thinks she has the time, patience and coolness factor to have her OWN blogspot. before the nerd status sets in and i start posting photos of my cat and the books i am moved by and the bands i spend a lot of money going to see... let's get a few 'ground rules' out of the way.

for starters. i hate using capitalization and puncuation unless i am writing a formal email. i told this to my gramma one time, who oddly enough, got offended. i dont know why she thinks a.) i would write her an email when she lives 3 feet away from me and b.) why she thinks she would get a FORMAL email, none the less, from myself! did she turn into hillary clinton over night?

Dear Grammie,

Hi! How are you? How about making chicken chicken cutlets for dinner later? I love them! I will be going to CVS at 5 o'clock, so if you need anything, call my cell phone.

Love you!

xoxo,
Cutie Pie.

an email like that? not happening on my watch. so dont expect these little posts to be all high and mighty in the grammar world. i swear to you, i was a journalism major for my undergrad, but taking the time to be all typing proper-savy isnt happening.

my second 'ground rule,' i have developed this late lucy complex... aka... insomnia... aka... i dont sleep much at night. i blame this on two things: scrabulous and my friends who support this late lucy complex. so when posts are insane and posted at crazy times, let's not judge, kids!

third ground rule. i have a few obsessions that will get mentioned freely and often. them being: music (of the indie/folk/rock genre), theatre (passing strange, thank you very much), shopping (need i say more?) and photography. maybe that isn't a ground rule as much as it is a disclaimer as of what is to come, but prep yourself none the less.

that is it. i am overly sarcastic and loving. teresa tends to think i am hilarious, but we will see if this blogger takes that route. until then...

xo.
